New Poll Question!

In light of the recent discovery of Nose-flutes (found by unnamed NHSI office employees), an NHSI Nose-flute band has been formed. But we need your help in choosing a name! Our current repertoire includes these classic favorite songs:

-Iron Man
-Row, Row, Row Your Boat
-Oh La La, Quelle Famille!
-Carol of the Bells
-The Notre Dame Fight Song
-Retrouver Mon Chien
-Day Man
-Little Drummer Boy (Ruth, solo)
-The Andy Griffith Show theme song ('Let's Go To the Swimmin' Hole')

Let us know if there's any other song you'd like to hear us perform or that should be featured on our upcoming Holiday Album.

Wanna be an FA??

Faculty Associate Applications

So. In response to those who want to know about our faculty associate positions (you know you want to be one), here is the the info we can give you now.

Applications will be due on Monday, March 2 (2009?? already??). So don't worry, you've got some time. We always love to have former cherubs apply, we think they make for the best FA's! Application availability will be posted here of course, but it probably won't be for another month or two. You'll be able to download those from the official website, conveniently listed at the top of this page, when they're ready.

It's important to note that FA's should ideally be in between their junior and senior years of college, but we have accepted younger ones in the past. So if you're in college and not going to graduate in 2009, you should apply!

On a completely unrelated note...

My fantasy football team emerged victorious this weekend, for only the second time this season. As the fantasy crowd cheered, the team dumped a fantastical jug of Gatorade on the fantastic coach. Fantastically.

Also, it's time for a new poll question! I have one in mind, but in spirit of a participatory Forum, if you have a suggestion, email it to nhsi@northwestern.edu . The most interesting question will be posted as a new poll (so make sure you give us answers to choose from as well) on Thursday morning!

Halloween Costume Update

We here at the office have just been informed that Verna (Nick's 8-month old daughter of poll fame) will be trick-or-treating as a duck. Figured that would be sufficiently adorable for all of you.

Nick, of course, has decided to go as something complimenting the duck costume. "I'm thinking a hunter?" has been overheard.

Promotional Videos

Hey everybody!

It's been great to see such a positive response to this blog! Definitely will make it easier to keep up with. For those of you who don't know yet, I (Max) have been busy this summer creating promotional videos for the theatre, film and video, and speech programs (the debate video is forthcoming I'll let you know when we finish it). So I wanted to share with you the videos I've completed so you can see a little more what the program is like! I'll get the speech one up after I finish it this weekend.

.....

Ok, so I tried uploading the file but it was taking waaaay too long. So here are the YouTube links:

Happy October!

As you can see, our blog has taken on a festive Halloween-y feel in honor of the season "and the crispness of the air" (as put by an unnamed NHSI employee). So in the spirit of the month, let us know what your ideas are for Halloween costumes! We want to hear what clever, creative, and wacky suggestions you have for all the trick-or-treaters (and maybe some of us who are too old to go trick-or-treating but want to dress up anyway) out there.

And check out the new poll question uploaded. It's coming down to the wire in the Presidential election, let us know who you support!

Launching of the Blog

Hello!

Welcome to The Cherub Forum - NHSI's newest source for all things Cherub. The Forum will be YOUR outlet for NSHI news, program updates, alumni relations, and much more.

Keep in touch with past, current, and fellow cherubs through our "Where are they now?" reports; Organize gatherings in your city or state with former students; Access hundreds of past cherub projects and plays through our video archives - now up on Youtube! Enjoy articles from guest columnists Barbara, Max, Nick, and Ruth, "holders of the fort" here at the Evanston office.

The bottom line: let us know what WE can do for YOU. Your experience here on Northwestern's campus was not the end of your life as a cherub. We want to make sure you get the most out of being a part of the NHSI family, so tell us what you'd like to see. Whether it's more extensive networking opportunities or even more programs NHSI could offer, we will do what we can for you.
