We want to know where you are!

Ok folks, it's been requested by several people (and if you saw my facebook message you'll know what I'm about to request) that we compile a list of networks where cherubs can be found. This is the first step in coordinating cherub get-togethers, dinners, etc. Obviously this is a completely voluntary thing, so if you don't want to get involved, you shouldn't feel any pressure to.

What we need from you is: University attended AND/OR networks you belong to (cities, regions, or countries if we have cherubs abroad!) . All you need to do is leave a comment on this post with the info, or you can send it to nhsi@northwestern.edu where we can find it as well.

This list could serve a number of functions. For example, if, over the next few months, we note that a former Theatre Arts cherub is being featured in a show in Chicago, we can say, "Calling all Chicago cherubs! Let's see a show!" Or, let's say that a former Journalism cherub is having an article or essay published in a northeastern regional publication. We can let all the cherubs up there know to check it out. That's one of the purposes of setting up this alumni network!

So get those locations in, if you want to kept up to date!

PS - if you're involved in a noteworthy event (play, publishing, etc.), LET US KNOW! We just had a former film cherub tell us about the premiere of an independent movie he produced coming up in December that will be here in Chicago. We'll get you more info about the movie when he sends us the website.

Kelly Muzzi was a Theatre cherub in 2001 , the same year America Ferrera was a Cherub! This program was very influential in her life. Kelly attended Bennington College in Vt. and died in a tragic accident , during a dance rehearsal,in 2005, due to an unsafe dance studio window. She loved the Cherubs and had just been hired to be a counselor with the 2005 summer NHSI a few weeks before she died.
Please check out her website- and anyone who knew her, her family would so love to hear from you~thank you and best wishes and love to all who read this. Our hearts are forever broken.

Atlanta, Georgia. I was a journalism cherub in 1967--then I was Dee Altfater.

I hope you'll create a directory by year and subject matter so we can check out our old (and for me, I do mean OLD) buddies.

I was a Journalism Cherub in 1998. I applied to go to NHSI after encouragement from my high school journalism teacher. I knew I would be competing with students from very prestigious high schools, and I went to a smaller, public high school in northeast Colorado. I was thoroughly surprised when I was chosen, and I had to do a bunch of fund-raising to be able to afford the tuition and room & board. I was the only one my year in the journalism program to have come from a small, semi-rural high school, and it was an amazing experience. I will never forget how wonderful it felt to be completely surrounded by people just as passionate about something as I was then, and really still am today.

After high school, I earned a bachelor's degree in journalism at Metropolitan State College of Denver. Since then, I have worked at several smaller newspapers, rising through the ranks as a reporter, copy editor, designer and most recently as editor of the Craig Daily Press, a small daily newspaper in Craig, Colo.

I am currently a freelance writer and copy editor living in Sterling, Colo.

I am on Facebook and My Space (user on both: Jenni Grubbs), and I welcome contact from fellow 1998 Cherubs, or others interested in sharing experiences.
